  34. The terms "Multi-intervals" or "Interval sets" 
  35. or simply "Intervals" lean towards a set and 
  36. not union.

  38. The term temporal element is more generic.  
  39. In the bitemporal model, it is union of rectangles.  
  40. Moreover if your bitemporal space does not contain 
  41. notion of future the bitemporal space reduces 
  42. to triangle below the diagonal.  And a temporal 
  43. element becomes union of triangles and rectangles.

  45. proceedings.)

  47. The term temporal element generalizes to spatial 
  48. or spatio-temporal element.  A spatio temporal 
  49. element can be very complex.
